Can Power Platform Replace Excel-Based Processes?

Power Platform can replace many Excel-based business processes, particularly when spreadsheets are being used for workflow management, approvals, shared data entry, repetitive calculations, or multi-user business processes. For example, a company might currently use an Excel spreadsheet to track employee requests: Excel → Manual Email → Manager Approval → Manual Update This could potentially become: Power Apps → Dataverse → Power Automate → Approval → Power BI The benefits can include: Centralized data Role-based security Automated workflows Better collaboration Auditability Real-time reporting Reduced manual errors Integration with Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365 However, Power Platform should not automatically replace every spreadsheet. Excel remains extremely useful for ad-hoc analysis, financial modeling, personal productivity, and scenarios where structured application development is unnecessary.
